Anwar Pervez Shefin is BUET Graduate and MBA. He is a promising entrepreneur in the electro-mechanical engineering industry of Bangladesh. He is the founder chairman of Powerbreeze Group.
Anwar Pervez Shefin was a famous debater in his student life under whose leadership Dr. M. A. Rashid Hall of BUET achieved National Championship in 13-th National Television Debate Competition of Bangladesh Television (1995-97). Since many years Shefin has been performing the responsibility as a member of judge panel in National Television Debate Competition of Bangladesh Television (BTV).
He has passion on recitation of poems, writing articles and blogs as well as tourism. He is active member of many professional and social platforms, clubs and associations.
Early Stage of life
Anwar Pervez Shefin was born and brought up at Gurudaspur, Natore under Rajshahi Division in the Northern territory of Bangladesh. He was born in the mid 70’s. Both of his parents were involved in teaching profession.
His father Md. Jalal Uddin was a Freedom Fighter who fought for the independence of the Nation in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. Shefin’s father completed Honours in Chemistry and Masters in Applied Chemistry from Rajshahi University. Md Jalal Uddin was the Principal of Dr. Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Degree College Gurudaspur, Natore for 30 years (1972-2002). Then he moved to Dhaka and performed the responsibility of Principal of Dr. Maleka University College, Dhanmondi, Dhaka and Rokeya Ahsan Degree College, Jatrabari, Dhaka. Besides, he was member of Syndicate, Senate and Academic Council of Rajshahi University as well as Chairman of governing bodies of some colleges and madrassahs of Natore.
Mrs. Anwar Parvin, mother of Anwar Pervez Shefin was Assistant Head Mistress of Rokeya Pilot Girls’ High School at Gurudaspur, Natore completing double Masters in Economics and Political Science as well as B.Ed. Apart from teaching she is involved in different kinds of social welfare relevant activities.
Growing up in such an educated and higher middle-class family beside the river of Nandakuja and Atari as well as in the heart of Challan Beel, Anwar Pervez Shefin completed his childhood upto S.S.C from Gurudaspur Pilot High School under Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board of Rajshahi. In his S.S.C exam he attained the highest marks among all the students of all the schools of Gurudaspur Upazila with overall star marks and letter marks in five (05) subjects.
From the childhood Shefin was involved in extracurricular activities like debate competition, recitation, essay writing competition, general knowledge competition as well as sports like Football, Badminton, Chess, Carrom etc.
In this very joyful, socially interactive environment Shefin finished his early stage of life upto S.S.C. in a municipality of Northern territory of Bangladesh with only sibling(brother), relatives and friends. In his todayâs very busy corporate business life he feels nostalgia on some issues/terms/sounds relevant to his locality like Challan Beel, Uttara Gonobhaban, Rani Bhabani, Bonolata Sen, Natorer Kachagolla and many more.
Springtime of life in a Megacity at Dhaka College and BUET
Completing S.S.C in 1990 from a school of Northern territory of Bangladesh under Rajshahi Board Anwar Pervez Shefin came Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, got admitted in Dhaka College and started his higher secondary education at the end of 1990. Then being a teenager of sixteen he started staying at the hostel of Dhaka College with more freedom being physically separated from family members getting relaxed from the daily supervisory control of parents. It brought really a radical change in the life of Shefin where he became familiar with urban life of the capital city of Bangladesh residentially staying at the heart as well as the most vibrant part of this Megacity. That time being the oldest college of Bangladesh Dhaka College was also the top ranked college of Bangladesh for higher secondary education where the top meritorious students from 64 districts were supposed to get admitted there including most of the students who placed themselves in the combined merit lists of different boards. Then Shefin got the opportunity to have the tastes m of culture of different parts and corners of Bangladesh from the students came from different areas of different districts.
Dhaka College was located just beside Dhaka New Market at Dhanmondi and was very close to Nilkhet, Elephant Road, Science Laboratory, Green Road, Dhaka University, BUET, Dhaka Medical College, Eden College, Shahbagh, Public Library, National Museum, PG Hospital, BIRDEM etc. even Farmgate, Motijheel, Gulistan, Paltan, Old Town were not so far as well. So, Shefin enjoyed the opportunity to visit most of the significant places of Dhaka city within short time through walking with friends even before reaching his adulthood.
But as the tenure of higher secondary education was too short but syllabus was too elaborate; so, in that period Shefin could not cope-up himself for extra-curricular activities due to the pressure of completion of academic courses for the higher secondary exam. Finally in the year of 1992 Anwar Pervez Shefin passed H.S.C from Dhaka College under Dhaka Board with star marks (85.3% marks) with letter marks in three subjects.
For studying undergrad program Shefin initially got admitted in Pharmacy Department in Dhaka University in 1993 but after attending classes there for about 2 weeks Shefin left Dhaka University and got admitted in Mechanical Engineering Department in Bangladesh University of Science and Technology (BUET). Due to the system of that time their classes of BUET started in the middle of 1994. In the initial days of BUET life Shefin started feeling too bored due to over pressure of study given by the class teachers of BUET. By the way, step by step he could cope up with the system.
In BUET campus Shefin was involved with different kinds of cultural, social and intellectual extra-curricular activities through different clubs of BUET. Sometimes he was involved with some kinds of cultural and extracurricular activities at T.S.C. of Dhaka University with his friends of Dhaka University as well as other institutions. For recitation practicing Shefin was involved with “KANTHASHEELON” at T.S.C where he could come in touch of nationally famous personalities who were the legends for recitation that time.
Anwar Pervez Shefin was very serious in debate competition in his university life. Being a debater of the team of Dr. M. A. Rashid Hall of BUET he started competition in the 13-th National Television Debate Competition of Bangladesh Television (BTV) in 1995 and after continuing the competition over two years under the leadership of Shefin Dr. M. A. Rashid Hall of BUET achieved the National Championship in 1997 and Shefin was elected the Best Debater in the Final Debate Competition of Bangladesh Television. This national championship in debate competition was the most significant extracurricular achievement in the student life of Anwar Pervez Shefin. Finally, Shefin passed out from BUET completing his undergrad program in 1999 facing bit session lag of that time. In this way, student life of Shefin came to an end but in the early days of his professional career Shefin felt the necessity of a degree in business studies result of which he completed two year’s long MBA program from International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC).
Development of professional career:
Before being graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineer and Technology (BUET) during project and thesis work in the very last stage of last semester of undergrad program Anwar Pervez Shefin started his professional career in Energypac Engineering Ltd., a prominent engineering company of Bangladesh as Assistant Engineer. Then day by day through achieving management satisfaction in the employer company by delivering expected performance Shefin step by step got promoted to Senior Engineer, Deputy Manager, Manager and Assistant General Manager (AGM) within 6-7 years. During performing duties in different positions Shefin gathered knowledge on corporate culture and responsibilities needed to be properly taken care of to run business operations successfully keeping keen observation and deep concentration on different surrounding issues. During this period of performing job responsibilities Shefin achieved leadership skill running a big team and interacting with mid and top management personnel of hundreds of local and multinational companies of different industries experiencing their diversified culture and attitude.
Then Shefin moved forward for initiating entrepreneurship with some of his friends and colleagues in the electro-mechanical engineering industry of Bangladesh. He formed a company named Powerbreeze Engineering Ltd. holding the position of Chairman of the company that has grown up now as Powerbreeze Group consisting some of itâs sister concerns.
Initially Shefin formed another company as core founder named Harmonics Power Ltd. being Chairman of the company focusing professional lightification with some of his business friends and relatives. Then after few years Shefin left Harmonics in 2014 due to some personal reasons and paid his 100% business focus and concentration on Powerbreeze.
Day by day different business wings have been established and expanded their operation under the umbrella of Powerbreeze Group with diversified product ranges and solutions relevant to electro-mechanical engineering industry. Now Powerbreeze is a brand name in the electro-mechanical engineering industry of Bangladesh achieving customer satisfaction, trust and relationship with thousands of local and multinational companies of different industries in different parts of Bangladesh. Being the core founder and Chairman of Powerbreeze Group Shefin takes care the overall business management of all sister concerns of Powerbreeze Group to ensure sustainable existance, smooth progress and reasonable growth.
Anwar Pervez Shefin dreams that once Powerbreeze will be the top ranked number one largest company in the electro-mechanical industry of Bangladesh and fulfilling the local demand Powerbreeze will expand itâs business in the global market.
Passion
Since the childhood Anwar Pervez Shefin was involved in different kinds of sports like Football, Badminton, Carrom, Chess as well as cultural and co-curricular activities like Debate Competition, Recitation, Essay Writing Competition, General Knowledge Competition, Wall Magazine Publication etc.
But among those co-curricular activities in the university life Shefin focused his concentration especially on Debate Competition and Recitation as well as writing in different kinds of seasonal publications. Under his leadership Dr. M. A. Rashid Hall, BUET achieved National Championship in the 13-th National Television Debate Competition of Bangladesh Television (1995-97) and in the final round Shefin was elected the best debater in the competition of BTV in 1997.
Now-a-days beside his very busy hours in corporate business activities, mental involvement as well as physical movement Shefin sometimes recite poems and write articles on different kinds of socio-economic-cultural activities in the social media.
Besides, Shefin has a passion on tourism to see and enjoy the natural beauty, historical heritage as well as socio-cultural trends of people of different parts of home and abroad. Even when he goes abroad to conduct business meetings and participate in the conference then Shefin does not waste his leisure time sleeping in the hotel room. He spends his tightly scheduled and tired hours also to enjoy the tourist attractions inside and beside the city. Shefin got the opportunity to enjoy most of the significant cities and famous tourist attractions of Asia, Europe, Australia and North America. He visited hundreds of citizens of 21 countries of the world.
